Iliffe Digital Media

Iliffe Digital Media Ltd was formally created as part of a move to consolidate all Iliffe News & Media on-line operations into one division.

The division embraces three main areas of activity. These include:

- driving forward both the strategy and operation of all on-line publishing activity within the Iliffe News & Media newspaper group
- sales and development of Milton Keynes premier community portal MKWeb
- provision of third party content management solutions to the public sector

The latter two activity areas comprised the business that was developed by Apollo Digital Developments Ltd. This company was formed in 1999 as part of a strategic alliance with Milton Keynes Council to provide a definitive on-line community portal for the city. This alliance drove technical development that gave rise to Portal Constructor CMS, one of the most respected and highly featured content management solutions available in the UK.

Apollo Digital Developments Ltd was acquired by Iliffe News & Media in late 2006. The purchase gave the wider publishing group access to an effective CMS solution, as well as the opportunity to ally the strength of MKWeb with its newspaper operation in the city through MK News. It also brought with it critical technical expertise for the support and development of the wider group on-line publishing operation.

In late 2007, the allied areas of digital publishing within the newspaper companies and Apollo Digital Developments operation were brought together as a newly integrated unit. This move was made to ensure the maximisation of the synergy benefits of the Apollo acquisition as well as to bring greater impetus to the development of Iliffe News and Media's digital publishing arm. The two entities were brought together into a single division to operate under the divisional banner of Iliffe Digital Media.
