YIT is a private company owned by the Iliffe family, with operations in the UK and Canada, and interests in newspaper publishing, television, electronic media, marinas and property.

Iliffe News & Media, a major part of YIT, comprises Cambridge Newspapers; Herts & Essex Newspapers; LSN Media; Staffordshire Newspapers; Iliffe Digital Media that drives all group on-line publishing as well as providing web solutions to both public and private sectors; and Channel Television, the independent ITV television station for the Channel Islands.

The group also owns Marina Developments Limited, Europe's leading marina operator, with 21 marinas collectively offering over 7,000 individual berths.

Added to this, YIT owns the Vancouver-based Westminster Management Corporation, a commercial property organisation.
